Anything Goes Happy Hour – Episode 27

Updated: Apr 24, 2021

This episode was taped on Sunday, October 4th. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, we were unable to get Clair Rachel Howell’s segment into the show. Please look for it in an upcoming episode.

Watch as we get to know the owner/operator of Laguna Beach’s “The Drake Restaurant,” Alec Glasser

The AGHH is LBCAC’s way of providing area residents with a little safe fun in dark times. “Harnessing the power of the ARTS for the benefit of the community,” is their slogan and this Arts/Music centric show does just that by shining a bright light on a few outstanding artists every Sunday.

The AGHH is the LBCAC-TV’s first show and step toward establishing Laguna’s first community TV station.

Alec Glasser

From Diane Armitage at  The Best of Laguna Beach :

“When he was a teenager, Alec Glasser spent three summers working at the Drake Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Because his family didn’t want him traveling back and forth each day to their home in Queens, they negotiated a sweet deal: He was allowed to live at the hotel. It was three summers more than 40 years ago, but The Drake left a lasting impression on the teenager, even after it was demolished in 1987.

“When you walked in the Drake lobby, there was a dining room on one side with wonderful blues piano players, and on the other side, a club called Shepheard’s that was always rocking with blues and R&B,” says Glasser.

“I grew up in that hotel. It was the essence of hospitality, a collaboration of great food and great music,” he adds.

“Fast forward to August 2019, and we find Glasser working to bring The Drake experience back to life in the old Tabu Grill space. He and his team are just weeks away from opening their new restaurant, The Drake Laguna Beach.”

Again, in case you haven’t heard, LBCAC has joined forces with the good folks at, an international live-streaming company owned by members of The Rolling Stones, Springsteen’s Band, Ringo’s Band as well as Stevie Nicks’ Bands. They’ve installed a high-end multi-camera streaming system at our Forest Avenue location to broadcast the highest quality.

In order to bring you these shows and to “harness the power of the Arts to benefit the community,” we depend on your generous donations. Please consider giving any small amount today.
